Well Guided was founded by Erica Brentan, who has spent almost two decades as a teacher, instructional coach, and professional development specialist.
Admitted into the prestigious New York City Teaching Fellowship, Erica started her career in 2005 teaching elementary school students in New York City public and charter schools. During this time, she saw the profound impact social-emotional learning had on her students and in 2012 was hired by Turnaround for Children to coach teachers across the city in building strong, equitable, and trauma-informed classroom communities where children thrived.
Through her work across diverse schools, Erica consistently heard the same challenge—they had ambitious goals for their students but struggled to achieve them due to constraints on time and resources. Well Guided began as a partner for schools to bridge that gap.
Over time, Erica recognized that the same principles and tools that helped educators could support any adult working to develop children's social-emotional skills. This insight led Well Guided to expand into partnerships with employers and camps.
Whether strengthening teacher capacity, supporting working parents, or helping camp families sustain summer growth, Erica's approach is grounded in research, shaped by real-world experience, and designed to be immediately practical.
Erica holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park and a Masters in Education from Pace University. She is a certified Positive Discipline trainer and serves as an SEL consultant with the School Culture and Climate Initiative.
